Collaboration. My old friend and I were talking about online collaboration and birds. He sent me his collage file, and I sewed and glued on the printed copy and sent it back. Below is a partial transcript of our online collaboration:

RW to BO Can’t shake the birds! let’s do a series! [attaches photoshop piece]

Okay, this piece is GREAT! feels religious to me — and I like religious feeling — not to be a smartass but I get this: rising, savior, sacrifice, hope, redemption.

…how about this – make any piece you want but the rule is every new piece has to borrow something from the last one.

DUDE. so it took me a month. but sent you off something on Saturday… right now I’m er, chewing cud-like on all the crafty stuff… wonder why we ladies couldn’t, never did, and never will get paid for any of that …maybe I’d rather be embroidering, but instead i have to pretend it’s FIne Art in order to justify it. so i decorated your piece with stuff I really like. okay, well, you’ll see it soon.

… in the email you saw the pig as ceremonial, sacrificial… thought i might explore that sometime. i think you beat me to it! the roses drifting from his feet and the lavish winged ornament above him, wow!
my initial idea was piglet dude wants to hang with his flying buddies…
BO to RW: By the way, — really appreciate you told me about the pig getting up to travel with the birds — funny — i decided the motion was vertical, whilst you were going for the horizontal. Another rule — you don’t get to explain what you were doing until the other person works on it.

looking at the collab piece today ( is there a title?) i’m seeing a more fully adorned beast chauffeured to the main event.
