Hypothesis: There’s nothing special about art materials.
Make materials to draw/paint out of ordinary stuff. No need to leave the house. Grind up pencils. water. nail polish remover. sticks, knives, brushes. pencil shavings. assorted home made glue binders. 40″x 20″.
Conclusion: Hypothesis correct. Material combinations worked. Border between kitchen, bathroom cabinet, and pencil box is an illusion.manufactured, processed, branded materials also an illusion. An ordinary person can draw or paint with ordinary materials out of her ordinary house.
My next step: refine this technique. Put regular drawing back into it. Try this out on brown wrapping paper/grocery bags. Find something for a lightener/whitener. white shoe polish? titanium sunscreen? Figure out what kind of oily binder can be used. out of the kitchen. What else can be ground up? Did not like the use of dirt by the way. Or coffee grinds. Also did not like mineral spirits.
